XXL Magazine recently put a article on their website (click on the picture to go to the website) discussing how Voletta Wallace (Biggie's Mom) felt about the way that her son treated Lil Kim and many other things that she did not know about him until she saw the movie. Here is the full article:Voletta Wallace, Biggie’s mother, is concerned about her son’s former relationship with Lil’ Kim. During the making of her son’s biopic, Notorious, she learned more about the two rapper’s infamous connection, and was not happy.
In an interview with Essence, Wallace revealed that she discoverd a lot about her son during the movie’s filming. “There were things about him [B.I.G.] that I never knew that I wanted to see for myself on film,” she said. “I saw a side of my son that I heard of but I haven’t accepted. I’m angered by certain things, disappointed and shocked. So this film taught me tolerance and to be less critical.”
She was especially surprised with the way B.I.G. treated Kim. “I would love to speak to Lil’ Kim, because I need to ask more about this love relationship because I really didn’t like the way he treated her and I’m praying that that’s not it,” she continued. “Only she can answer those questions. She’s a sweet girl and I didn’t think she deserved to be treated the way he treated her, if that’s the case.”
Wallace’s comments come days after Lil’ Kim announced her disapproval of her portrayal in the movie and dissed Biggie’s mother and widow in an interview with Hip-Hop Weekly.
“I’ve had enough and I’m about to expose them both … I’ve been quiet for a long time,” Lil’ Kim said in the magazine, hitting stands this month. “I’m very disappointed in Faith,” she added. “There’s nothing Faith or Ms. Wallace could do to stop me from reppin’ B.I.G. all day. I’m gonna always do that … It’s time for Ms. Wallace to be exposed.”

Tuesday we posted the Kanye West-produced track, 'Brooklyn Go Hard,' with Jay-Z, featuring Santogold, from the upcoming 'Notorious' soundtrack, and now, we've just learned that the album will feature a surprise guest: Notorious B.I.G's 12-year-old son, Christopher "CJ" Wallace.
CJ joins Jay, Jadakiss and Faith Evans on the soundtrack, that film producer Wayne Barrow has confirmed will also feature three previously unreleased Biggie Demos. "We kept everything as is, in its raw form. This is what got him the [recording] deal, plain and simple. His fans have been asking for it for years...It's incredible stuff," Director George Tillman Jr. explained in a recent interview.
As for young CJ's involvement with the project, Big's son will appear on a remix of his big papa's classic 'One More Chance,' which has been described as "emotional," so we can only guess what that means.

In honor of Black History Month, we’re honoring one of the foremost leaders and thinkers in Black America today: Dr. Cornel West.
Dr. Cornel West is an Ivy League-educated professor of religion and African-American studies at Princeton University. A renown, controversial philosopher, orator, scholar and activist, Dr. West has written close to 20 profoundly influential books on the topics of race, politics, culture and religion, including the best-selling book, Race Matters.
It’s not unusual to see West — a cancer survivor and the son of a Baptist minister — keeping company with everyone from students to senators, rabbis to rappers. In fact, West has a hand in making hip-hop music too: aside from his involvement with Russell Simmons’s Hip-Hop Summit, West has two albums to his name.
On his first album, Sketches of My Culture, released in 2001, he skillfully set the ramifications of slavery to soulful spoken word grooves. On his latest album, Never Forget: A Journey of Revelations, released in 2007 with the Black Men Who Mean Business, he set his thoughts on being Black in post-9/11 Bush Country to funk, soul and hip-hop rhythms. Joining him: hip-hop and R&B heavy-hitters Prince (one of the first times the artist has ever allowed his work to be sampled), Jill Scott, Talib Kweli, KRS-One, Andre 3000, Killer Mike and the late Gerald Levert.
“This isn’t commentary on hip-hop,” West told Billboard.com. “This is a very political album that doesn’t pull any punches… There are critiques of the Bush administration as well as of unaccountable corporate power, unaccountable police power and homophobia. We’re trying to get young people to wake up and recognize they’re part of the great tradition of struggle, to become organized and fight for freedom of justice.”
This is hip-hop of the deepest, highest order intended to raise awareness, open minds, influence and inspire. As he told the Baltimore Sun, “Hip-hop is a powerful cultural force that can be used as a link to freedom. We’ve always had a group of prophetic musicians that fused the social, political and historical. Hip-hop as a force of change that may not speak directly to the Curtis Mayfield generation, but it speaks to young people and their children. And, my brother, we can’t give up on our young people.”
For his MTV Artist of the Week on-air videos, Dr. West and a few famous friends took that message directly to the schools, directly to the children — specifically to Grace A. Dunn Middle School in Trenton, New Jersey. There, he schooled the young students in Black history, race and class, the Wu-Tang Clan and, above all else, how to lead a respectful, righteous life.
